dotFM - DNS DIG Lookup Tool

Domain:

     NS Lookup  | SOA  | MX   | A  | CNAME

DNS DIG allows you to directly query a name server and retrieve any of the information known to your domain name. It is helpful in determining if the server is running correctly and if your domain record is properly configured.

 » DIG...........: Domain Information Gopher.

» NS Lookup.: Name Server Lookup. This the Primary/Secondary Domain
Name Server for your domain from the .FM Root DNS. If
The information from your DIG does not match what is on the
WHOIS the problem may be with the Root FM records.

» SOA..........: Source of Authority or Start Of Authority. This is the
records on your hosting companies Name Servers. Without
this record your domain will not resolve. If NS Lookup shows
the correct Primary/Secondary Name Servers, but you see no
SOA records listed. Then you should contact your hosting
company and inform them you see no SOA record on their
                         Name Servers for your domain.

» MX.............:  Mail Exchange. This is the Mail Exchange record for your
domain. If you are having problems with your email. First
check NS Lookup, if that is correct. Second check SOA, if
that is correct. Check MX, if you see no record listed, Please
call your hosting company and inform them you see no MX
                          record for your domain.

» A................:  Address Record. The Address record (A record) yields an
IP address that corresponds to a host name.

» CNAME........:  Canonical Name. The Canonical Name (CNAME) record is
used to define an alias host name.
